Resources to Foster Innovation

Kansas

  • Enterprise Center of Johnson County – Business incubator that provides business consulting, advisory services, financing resources and office space to accelerate the success of high-growth companies in the tech sector.
  • Kansas Bioscience Park – Situated on 92 acres of prime land, the Kansas Bioscience Park in Olathe, Kan., is the right place for entrepreneurs and bioscience researchers to innovate and grow.
  • Kansas Small Business Development Center – Small business support organization focused on assisting entrepreneurs by providing resources to support business development.
  • K-State Olathe Innovation Campus – Currently under construction at the Kansas Bioscience Park. This will place growing companies right next door to world-class expertise and research excellence in sectors such as animal health and biosecurity.
  • PIPELINE Innovators – Entrepreneurial business mentorship program that combines building services with venture capital investors to nurture the KC region’s next generation of tech innovators.
  • Liberty Science and Technology Park (under development) – 42-acre area located in the Heartland Meadows Business Park. The park serves as a hub for advancing science and technology firms. It houses a highly talented workforce and has direct access to nearby academic institutions.
  • The University of Kansas Center for Technology Commercialization – Supports technology commercialization in tech/IT and other industries.
  • University of Kansas Bioscience and Technology Business Center – A new $7.25 million bioscience incubator on Kansas University’s West Campus opened in 2010. As part of the facility, a 20,000-square-foot Bioscience and Technology Business Center also is being built by partnerships involving KU, the city of Lawrence, Douglas County and the Kansas Bioscience Authority.
  • Lawrence Regional Technology Center – The Lawrence Regional Technology Center (LRTC) is a nonprofit small business incubator that offers valuable resources and services to support the formation and growth of high-tech start-up companies in Lawrence and the surrounding communities.
  • The University of Kansas Medical Center Bioscience and Technology Business Center – The BTBC at KUMC is designed to boost commercialization of KU research, with a focus on fostering collaborative research efforts, furthering economic growth and creating jobs.

Missouri

  • Avvio Center – A small business incubator that promotes early-stage tech companies. Located in North Kansas City, the Avvio Center provides space for small businesses in the technology industry.
  • Christopher “Kit” Bond Science & Technology Incubator – Provide facilities and assistance for start-up companies. The incubator houses a laboratory, conference room, operation offices and tenant spaces.
  • Independence Regional Ennovation Center – Mixed-use business incubator that focuses on growing bio-tech, culinary and business and technology businesses.
  • KC SourceLink – Resources for entrepreneurs in a variety of industries, including tech, to start or expand their businesses.
  • Kauffman Foundation – Dedicated to advancing and establishing global entrepreneurs and their businesses through educational and mentorship programs like FastTrac – its internationally acclaimed entrepreneurship learning program.
  • MRIGlobal – One of the nation’s leading research institutes, MRIGlobal conducts programs in the areas of national security and defense, life sciences, energy and the environment, agriculture and food safety, and engineering and infrastructure.
  • Missouri Innovation Park – Formerly the Independent Regional Medical Center, the Missouri Innovation Park is a multi-use business incubator that focuses on biotech, bioscience and nanotechnology. The space offers eight wet lab facilities. Its primary partner is the KC Area Life Sciences Institute, which supports both bioscience and animal health science.
  • Mizzou Center – Supports entrepreneurs, start-up and existing businesses and organizations by providing co-location opportunities with the University of Missouri’s strategic research, innovation, technical and workforce development assets and resources.
  • OfficePort KC – A co-working business facility that supports tech innovators and entrepreneurs by providing rental space and on-site services.
  • Stowers Institute for Medical Research – Strong emphasis on medical research, the Stowers Institute studies causes, treatment and prevention of diseases. Established in 1994. The space includes state-of-the-art laboratory space, equipment and technical support. Encourages collaborative scientific efforts.
  • Think Big Partners – An early-stage business incubator, start-up accelerator and mentorship-based collaborative network that supports tech innovators and entrepreneurs.
  • Missouri Small Business & Technology Development Center – Provides counseling, expertise and education to entrepreneurs in tech/IT and other industries.
